Tough day for Kenya Lioness as they face Cameroon today .

Changes in the Lioness team as they are set to clash with Cameroon to secure second place and qualify for world women's rugby, the game is to be played today at 1pm. There are four changes to the Lionesses starting fifteen ahead of today's  Rugby Africa Women’s Cup against Cameroon at the Stade Makis in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Nelly Chikombe, Terry Ayesa and Freshia Akinyi are handed their first starts of the tournament, having previously come off the bench in the previous two matches. Phoebe Akinyi is restored to the starting line-up after missing Wednesday’s defeat to South Africa with a soft tissue injury. Mercy Migongo, Lewin Mwevezi and Hesla Khisa are in line for their first appearances of the tournament after being named in the match day 23. A victory for the Lionesses and defeat for Madagascar (who take on South Africa later this afternoon) will secure a second place finish and qualification to the third tier of the newly introduced World Rugby WXV competi

Kenya Simbas withdraws from the Mzansi Challenge

Kenya Simbas has pulled out from the remaining 2023 Division one fixture of the Mzansi Challenge. Kenya to fail to take part in the remaining fixture of the Currie cup as they experience financial constraints, although they have qualified after winning their game against Zimbabwe in Nakuru, they will no longer participate in the competition. “It is with a disappointed heart that I have to inform you that our bright Currie Cup journey in 2023 has to an early end due to financial constraints and other inevitable factors beyond our control as a team,” Simbas team manager Jimmy Mnene said. This message was confirmed by the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) newly elected director for the 15s squad Engineer Moses Mukabane.    The weekend has been full of rugby action from the Africa women's Cup in Madagascar, the Mzansi challenge in Kenya and the World rugby qualifiers in London. Saturday was a winning day as the Kenya lioness won their first division match against Madagascar with a 29-20 lead, Shujaa also wining their first playoff game with a 24-19 against Canada and the Simbas also winning their Mzansi Challenge with a 48-7 against Zimbabwe in their first division of the Currie Cup. The London 7s tournament featured the 2024 qualifiers where Kenya played the finals but lost 7-12 to Canada and were relegated from the World Rugby Sevens Series. Despite winning all their Saturday  games against Canada and  Tonga, they were held heavy by the Canadian team at the final stage of the tournament and blowing off the Shujaa's candle to participate in the 2024 series. The first day of the London 7s Kenya Shujaa have displayed a good game as they eye for the 2024 qualifiers with Kevin Wekesa shining by scoring two Hatrick tries in their games against Canada and Tonga.  Kenya won the first game against Canada after a hard struggle but highly rectified their simple mistakes in the Tonga games to finalise the day as the victors.

Kenya Women's Rugby team has travelled to Madagascar ahead of their first division of the  Africa's Women's Cup Championship tournament in Antannarivo Madagascar where they are to face Madagascar in their first tournament on Saturday the 20th. In response to their readiness of this tournament, Denis Wanja, The head coach has said that the team is ready not only to participate but to win and ensure they qualify to the next round of the Rugby World Cup. Kenya Simbas set to face Zimbabwe on Saturday in their first division of the Currie Cup

 Kenya Simbas have begun training for their weekend game against Zimbabwe after returning home from South Africa. The game will be played at the Nakuru Athletics Club and it features the Currie cup first division game and  will be the first of the three home matches. The game comes after their regretable loss in South Africa where they lost four out of their five matches by walk over after their late arrival and won one against Namibia. The Simbas are still in good spirit as they believe they stand a chance to win against Zimbabwe who lost all their six matches. "The game is ours, we request our fans to turn up in numbers qat the Nakuru Athletics Club, we have it in record," Said Samuel Asati(Tintin) Simbas and KCB rfc Scrum- half.   Residents of Kipkenyo area are calling on the government to help maintain the dump site located there. Led by Maslus Wambui, a resident, has complained that the environment is bad at the site as the smell has increased leading to a flies infestation. "The Flies are making the area so uncomfortable and this is mainly because of the bad smell from the site." Said Maslus a business owner at Kipkenyo. He has also said that the security of the place is low which forces them to close their businesses early as those working at the site most are not trust worthy. "Sometimes those working here become restless and they invade our businesses asking for favor and when denied they break in at night." Maslus complained. According to another resident, Bramwel Kogei, he has complained that the dump site causes poor fresh air circulation in the area.  Governors from the North Rift region have adopted and signed the corporation agreement of the North Rift Economic Block (NoREB) bill.  according to Stephen Sang, the chairman of the corporation and also the Nandi County governor, the approval of the bill by the county assemblies will help the bloc work as one in an attempt to boost the economy of the region. "The adoption of the bill will help us develop a one stop shop for all those planning to invest in our region and it will help improve the livelihood of the people in this hard economic times." said governor Sang Adding to this he states that the Bill will strengthen the region and lead to its prosperity not as a single county but all the 8 counties within the North Rift region.
