Lioness chase to secure a spot in the newly launched Women's competition in Madagascar

Kenya Women's Rugby team has travelled to Madagascar ahead of their first division of the  Africa's Women's Cup Championship tournament in Antannarivo Madagascar where they are to face Madagascar in their first tournament on Saturday the 20th.
In response to their readiness of this tournament, Denis Wanja, The head coach has said that the team is ready not only to participate but to win and ensure they qualify to the next round of the Rugby World Cup.
"Because the team did not just train to go and participate, we areb looking at the future and as such the team that will represent the country is the best and was chosen by the technical bench with  the help of the players themselves," Said Denis Wanja
The team will be led by the newly selected captain Sheila Chajira and with the return of Mercy Migongo and Enid Ouma, the team hopes for better performance and display during the whole tournament.
"We are much ready now as we have really worked on our previous mistakes and we expect a better performance," said Sheila Chajira, the captain.
The tournament will feature the winner qualifying for the Second tier of the newly launched World Rugby WXV with the runners up qualifying for the Third tier of the same competition which is extended to revolutionize the Women's International Rugby Landscape providing for the first time meaningful pathway for all Unions and Competitive springboards towards an expanded 16-teams rugby world Cup 2025.
