CS Sports Ababu Namwamba promises to support kenya 7s' chase for promotion back to World series
The relegation of Kenya Shujaa from the World Rugby 7s series was met with different reactions and today the government has said its piece. 
Speaking to the media the cabinet secretary for Sports Ababu Namwamba, has highlighted that the upcoming world Rugby U20 trophy tournament to be hosted in Kenya will be the stepping stone to making Rugby teams in Kenya great again. 
"The surest way of returning Kenya's rugby to the elite table is by going back to basics and nurturing young talents. Myself and the government,  we are going to support to actualize this dream of getting the Shujaas back to where they belong, starting with the upcoming U20 games," said Ababu Namwamba.
The Kenya Shujaas were relegated during their final game at the London sevens playoffs by loosing 7-12 to Canada. 
The Union has set up measures to ensure the team comes back unmatched and as such the Shujaas will be travelling to the New York to participate in the New York City sevens tournament where they will show case their determination and resilience by competing alongside other top global rugby teams in July. 
The event will enhance their competitiveness and Kick-start to their journey back to the world sevens series as they eye for the Africa Cup Scheduled for September in Zimbabwe  which will qualify them to the Paris 2024 despite the competition from South Africa  Blitzboks.
"Our goal is to prepare Shujaa to be considered a favourite for the Victory in the Africa Cup and secure our qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics," said the KRU. 
The Paris 2024 Olympics is where Kenya's fate is decided as Shujaa is expected to compete against all the 12 best global teams and ensure they secure the win for them to be elevated back to the World Rugby 7s  series
